Where are you located?
I am currently working with S&C Tattoo and Barber on an appointment basis, and also accepting walk-ins when available. We are located at 4400 Queen Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Is there parking available?
Yes, however it is street parking and will require you to pay for the time of your visit.
What tattoos do you accept?
I am open to tattooing in all styles but I love doing black and grey realism the most! I also really love doing colour pieces and bold lines (Neo/Traditional vibes). Colour realism & dotwork are also styles that I enjoy in particular.
What tattoos do you not accept?
I do not tattoo mouths, palms, fingers, bottom of feet, or toes due to their lack of capability to hold ink, except for rare situations.
I also do not tattoo genitalia or eyeballs.
How long have you been tattooing for?
I started tattooing clients in 2020 right before the pandemic hit. So really I would say after lockdowns were lifted around 2021. I've also been through the ringer with health issues so I've had to take breaks throughout my journey. Rough start but clearly I am passionate about tattooing. I always believe in my art speaking for itself.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
You need to be 18 years old to get a tattoo on your own. With parent consent you need to be a minimum of 16 years old.
Regardless of your age, please make sure you realize this is meant to be a permanent process and you choose your ideas wisely. Coverup tattoos are not always possible. Also, there are laser removal clinics but they require many expensive sessions that are more painful than getting a tattoo itself.
How much does a tattoo cost?
My starting price for small tattoos is $100+tax, this covers design fee, station set up and the tattoo itself.
All designs vary in pricing depending on size and details.
Please, keep in mind that this process is an investment for your body and it is better to save up for what you truly want.

What is your deposit policy?
-
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. They are to pay for my designing process and to save that timeslot for you.
-
They will be applied to your last session to ensure payment of design time.
-
Deposits will be forfeited if you reschedule with less than 3 days notice. If you do not show up then that would have been a slot for somebody else.
How can I book a consultation or an appointment?
To book a free consultation, please get in touch through the "Get In Touch" button at the top of the page, calling the studio or messaging me on any social platform.
The fastest way to book an appointment would be to fill out the booking form under the services page. Usually appointments require a consultation otherwise, to figure out details like timing and pricing. A deposit will be required to secure a timeslot.
Can you draw a design for me before I book an appointment?
The short answer is no.
Reason being... designing takes a lot of time and effort from me which is why I require a deposit to make sure I am being efficient. I urge my clients to check out my previous work beforehand to make sure my work is what you like in general. We go through the process of a consultation where all the details are discussed and agreed upon. The next step is to trust me as your artist!
Where is the most painful to get tattooed?
In general, tattoos are painful no matter where you get them. The most painful spots are usually boney areas or areas with more nerve endings. I recommend searching up "tattoo pain chart" for a general sense of what to expect.
Can I take/drink something for the pain?
Being intoxicated will affect my comfortability with tattooing you. Please do not take any drugs or drink any alcohol before your appointment, as you will not be tattooed and you will lose your deposit.
Do you use numbing cream?
I do not use numbing cream as it affect the quality of my work. Numbing cream changes skin textures and causes ink to heal much lighter (resulting in multiple sessions needed and sometimes even then will not result in desirable results).
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Purchase aftercare. You will need UNSCENTED soap and UNSCENTED lotion - make sure it says so in the label. Alternatively to lotion you can use vitamin e oil or tattoo ointment.
Apply Lotion. Moisturize the area you are getting tattooed 1-2 weeks ahead of your appointment. This will help make your skin smooth for the needle to glide.
Rest up. Get as much rest as possible the night before your tattoo as it can be a draining process.
Eat well. Keep your energy replenished by eating before your appointment. Bring snacks & drinks to keep your sugars up. (Do not avoid eating, this can cause fainting).
Prepare Clothing. Wear clothing you don't mind getting ink on, that is comfortable and will provide easy access to the area being tattooed. Also bring a light blanket, gloves or extra socks for bigger sessions.
Arrange Travel. Plan your transportation to make sure you arrive on time so we can optimize tattoo time. Please also keep your schedule clear from plans for after your appointment in case we need more time.
Be Informed. As the canvas, you are responsible to care for the art! Tattoos can take anywhere from 2+ weeks to heal. Check out the aftercare to understand how to take care of your new tattoo.
What if I change my mind about my tattoo idea and it's already been booked?
Please get in contact as soon as you have changed your mind about any ideas. If I have already spent time designing something based on our previous conversations your deposit may be lost and a new deposit will need to be placed. Usually minor changes are not a big issue!
How do I take care of my tattoo?
I will explain any specific care instructions in person and as well as the general aftercare. Otherwise, please check out the Tattoo Aftercare page for details! If you do not find the information needed, get in contact.
Do you do piercings as well?
I do not do any piercings, however, there are piercers at the studio. Feel free to call the studio to book your piercing appointment.
Can I book an appointment for someone else? (My friend/family)
You can but it is generally recommended against because tattoos are a very personal experience with a very permanent affect.
Keep in mind you will be the one responsible (this includes but is not limited to: no shows/ cancellations/ design changes not conveyed/ miscommunications).
*Deposits are non-transferable (meaning it cannot be transferred to you instead).
Can I bring someone to my appointment? How about a pet/service animal?
I prefer my clients to come alone as it can be distracting to my focus. If necessary you may bring one person. Just know that if the studio is really busy we may not be able to accommodate them.
As for pets, unfortunately it is not sanitary to have them visit the studio. Despite how much I would love to meet them! This also includes service animals, sorry for the inconvenience.
How do I prevent my tattoo from getting infected?
Treat your new tattoo like the fresh wound that it is! Avoid touching your tattoo as much as possible and if you do, make sure your hands are clean.
If you have pets do not allow them to make contact with your tattoo/bedding.
Check out the Tattoo Aftercare page for more details!
How can I tell if my tattoo is infected?
Tenderness in your tattoo is usual for a few days, it should get better and better as the days go on. If the pain is only increasing then there is a chance it is infected. You may experience swelling, soreness, irritation, chills, fever, sweats and see bumps, pus, redness. Please visit a doctor's office if you are noticing these symptoms.
Can I get tattooed if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
I do not tattoo those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Getting tattoos will add stress your body which can cause implications to your pregnancy/ breastfeeding.
What if I want to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
One reschedule is allowed as long as it is with a proper 3 days minimum notice. Otherwise canceling or rescheduling with inappropriate timing will result in losing your deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.
What if I want to learn how to do tattoos?
I am not in a position to take on any apprentices at the moment. If you would like to consider getting mentored by someone, the first step is building up a portfolio. Next is finding an artist/shop you are inspired by an approaching them with a request to take you on. It can be very nerve-wrecking but we all start somewhere. Work hard & Best of luck!
Why "MsDefinition"?
Firstly, I'd like to say Hello! I go by MsDefinition and I thank you for visiting my site. It feels surreal that I am at that stage in my life to have a website, but here I am! I hope to continuously evolve in everything I do and I'm excited for all of the people who will join in on my journey (of course, you included). Thanks again!
A lot of the people that I work with question why I chose my alternative name of MsDefinition so here is how it came about...
It all started in 2018. I had just settled into the concept of actually pursuing my career choice of being a tattoo artist. I grew up in a traditional Vietnamese household which viewed tattoos as more of a taboo. My family was surrounded by the fact that the only people who had tattoos around them were criminals or gang affiliates. Naturally, it was never brought up to me as a career option within my family, but it was something that I discovered on my own. I had always enjoyed creating art since my childhood, but always thought it was more of a hobby, as I was always encouraged to chase career choices like being a doctor/dentist/lawyer/etc.. I did consider the options, as they are very respectable choices and I love serving people, however they just never enticed me enough to push forward. Throughout many trials of different job fields, I met a lot of people, and a great amount of them had tattoos (some better than others). This made me realize that I wanted to put my art on people and I wanted it to be good! I wanted to create art that people would be proud to wear and others, amazed to see. As I mentioned this to my family... they were not impressed. I had to be very certain of myself and pushed the boundaries that were set for me. It was a very difficult process to endure but I was determined to write my own story with only the limits I set for myself.
The first step was to make a name for myself through my artwork. I knew that if I wanted my tattoos to be good, my artwork needed to improve. I did some research and found out that the best way to learn how to improve my artwork and how to tattoo was through an apprenticeship. This is when you build up a collection of your artwork, go to tattoo studios that you find inspiring and request for a mentor. A mentor is essentially a seasoned tattoo artist who will become your teacher and pass on their knowledge to guide you through the culture that is tattoos. So I spent some time trying to learn and improve as much as possible on my own in my drawings, because I wanted to showcase my best work at that moment... as well as spending time building up the courage to show my portfolio to a professional tattoo artist.
In the same timeframe of building my portfolio, I would sit with myself and think about all of the different possibilities of an artist name. At the end of a few days, at the least, I couldn't decide... It took me a while but the more I thought about it, the more I determined I wanted my name to represent my artwork goals (defined and of high quality). I also wanted a representation of my service to others through my skills and help others tell their stories, to define themselves! "DEFINITION" popped up in my mind and it never left. I considered having just that as my art name, but I am proud to be a woman, a strong woman who pushes for what she wants! Hence, MsDefinition was established.
Not long after deciding on my art name I found a tattoo studio (905Ink Tattoo) that I felt comfortable with, as well as an amazing mentor (ArtHvbits). I have gone through many lessons and a lot of hardships since. There were no easy steps to the process and I am learning I will always feel like I'm in the beginning of my journey. Despite the all that I have learned so far, I still have a lot to learn but I am so excited to keep on growing and to add more definition to my name.
